BY  Brian Miller

Hey there and welcome to the first edition of Rage on the Page. This week Im going to run down the SummerSlam card and give my predictions. Also Im going to give my opinion of what they should do (you know the smart/right thing to do). So without further ado here we go.

*******************SummerSlam******************

I no this sounds amazing (mostly because this hasnt happened in over a year) but on paper WWE has a pretty solid card booked in SummerSlam. Now Im not talking about the angles and storylines as they are far from being decent. What Im talking about are the actual matches. With the exception of the two main events (which I believe will be ***) Im expecting **** matches and up. With that said its time to breakdown each match.

Edge vs Eddy Guerrero

My vote for sleeper match of the night. The first slot on the card belongs to the superior SmackDown! Eddy in my opinion is the third best in-ring performer in the WWE. Put him in there with the hella-over and hella-talented Edge and I see nothing but good things in this match. The build up for the match was sub-par but as I still dont understand why theyre feuding. Anyway I dont need much of a reason to see these two guys work. Recently wherever you Guerrero the "Rabid Wolverine" isnt far behind. Knowing this I say we will see Chris at some point during this contest (which is a bad idea where I see it). In the end I have Edge overcoming the odds and going over Eddy. Edge will continue his push and Eddy will become free to compete in pointless tag team matches with his newly found partner.

Undertaker vs Test

The American Bad Ass one on one with the "Heavy Hitter" of the Un-Americans. Once again the build up and story behind this match absolutely sucks. Taker just hasnt been the same since he first rode out on the bike to Rollin and Test could actually be a draw if they give him a chance. Note to WWE: The anti American gimmick died with the Sergeant Slaughter. Anyway if you like high flying cruiserweights or mat technicians this one is not for you. But if you like a good all out, smash mouth brawl, this is the match for you. This one wont be too fast but I do expect Test to raise the pace and pull a decent match out of UT. I think the end of this contest will bring us Undertaker going over. I dont believe this is a surprise to anyone so Ill go on to the next match.

Ric Flair vs Chris Jericho

Nature Boy will battle it out with the King of the World for what reason who knows. Nonetheless the build up for this was decent. Im not to into the reason of Y2J wanted to make an impact so he goes after Flair. Lets be serious for a minute. Im a huge Flair mark but he has been made to look inferior ever since coming back to WWE. Hes been wrestling guys like Steven Richards just so that hes on TV. So why would you attack him to make an impact. All that said I expect this to be one hell of a match. Sure Ric isnt what he was but he still sells like crazy and Jericho is that damn good. Anticipate a offence heavy match from Jericho and a some blood from Nach. In the end Flair will be doing what they seem to be paying him for the job (oops I mean putting over the young talent). Hopefully after SS they would put Jericho in a feud with RVD. Wont do much for either but at least we can get a great series of matches. As for Ric he will most likely retire or continue jobbing if hes lucky he can job to HHH nextL

Kurt Angle vs Rey Mysterio

The best overall talent in the WWE vs the best cruiserweight in the WWE, smell the possibilities. Angle will abuse Rey on the mat Rey will take advantage of Angle in the air and we do nothing but benefit from it. So far no match has had the build up it deserves and this one is no different. If you as me these two shouldnt even be in the ring together on a PPV. Angle should be in the main event for the Undisputed Title and Rey should be in the ring with Jamie Noble (why hasnt that match happened yet). Running the risk of sounding contradictory I cant wait for this one. My advice to you all is tape this match so you can watch it to see all the stuff you missed the first time. Its gonna be fast paced and action packed. My prediction is my Olympic Hero going over. On second thought, thats the right thing to do which means the opposite just might happen. Hopefully Hayman sees that any other finish would be wrong. By hook or crook Angle has got to go over and move on to pursue his 3 WWE Title run. Rey like I said before needs to go after the title he made famous the Cruiserweight Title. A program with him and Noble can only be good.

***WWE Tag Team Titles***

Booker T/Goldust vs Un-Americans (Lance Storm/Christian)

Well let me start this one off bay saying the Tag division in WWE needs help badly (actually Raw as a whole needs help). That said I want to know why is Booker T in a match for the Tag Team Titles? Hey I like the skits with him and Goldust but I think he should be THE star of Raw (God knows HHH aint cutting it). And dont get me started on the Un-American gimmick. But that a topic for another column. Now we talk about what should be one great tag team match. We can look forward to a very nice mixture of brawling and mat wrestling. Not much to say about this one except like the rest of the card the build up was poor and they dont belong together under these circumstances. That doesnt mean Im upset they are together. I say that were in for a **** match that has the Un Americans going over. They will move on to feud with Book and Goldust or some other team thats just thrown together.

***Intercontinental Title***

Rob Van Dam vs Chris Benoit

Mr. PPV against the Crippler. Oh My God Im shaking just thinking of it. On build up worth a damn but these two are great and will put on the match of the night. Benoit is the best in ring worker (in my opinion) on the roster. RVD is the most exciting to watch. So you put them together on a PPV and those matches on Monday nights that they had wont even compare. You will se it all. Action in and out of the ring, near falls high spots, fast pace. Do I really need to give more reasons why this match will blow the roof of the arena? This match is gonna end with an appearance from Benoits tag team partner Latino Heat (and possibly Edge) and RVD bringing the title home to Raw. Giving the situation of both men theres not much you can do to elevate them with a lot of roster jumps and new writers. So lets just hope they get the lest worst possibility as they all will be bad.

HHH vs HBK

The Lame oh I mean Game and the Icon. Whew! I think that HBK is one of the greatest wrestlers of all time and I think his return to the ring is a great thing. But lets face facts. Hes not as good as he once was and HHH isnt the HHH from 2000. So I dont see the match being good. The build up for it was OK but was killed by HHH weak heel turn. One week its because he wants to prove HBK needs him, the next week its because the fans made him week!?!? Whatever either way the fans lost interest, which was the only thing, the match had going for it. So after all the hype we will get a half ass HBK losing to a full jackass HHH. HBK will go on to do god knows what and HHH will be the king of Raw. Note to all: Everyone should bone their bosss daughter (or son whatever youre into) and see how far you can get.

***WWE Undisputed Title***

Brock Lesnar vs The Rock

Now for our main event. The only match that had a good build up is one that wont produce as much in the ring. Expect the normal Rock match with your typical WWE main event spots. There might be some surprises that make you go wow but dont expect much. When the smoke clears and the war is done Rock will be laying and Brock will no longer be the next big thing He will be the big thing and new WWE Undisputed Champion. Rock will go off into the sunset to film hi movie and sooner or later Hayman will be phased out of Lesnars character. One thing to look forward to is the feud with Bichoff and Lesnar (for what is a good reason) Brock leaving Raw for SmackDown!
